Pucci Summer: One Pucci piece, five ways

Pucci keeps coming up on my Instagram explore page.

… and then the NYT caught on and Vanessa Friedman wrote an article about the Pucci Girl Summer.

Thanks to the mid-’00s, I love Pucci — always have and always will.

Nicole Richie (left and right) is basically the poster child for vintage Pucci dresses, MK & A in Holiday in the Sun, and Kate Moss (obviously)

It’s like, when you have a Pucci piece on, the rest of your outfit takes care of itself due to the swirling summery print.

A Pucci dress, or playsuit, or skirt make up the ideal summer insta-outfit (as in instant… but, fine, I guess Instagram too).

It’s a one-and-done… and in a sweltering summer, you really can’t ask for more than that.

Over time, I’ve been trying to hoard Pucci rompers.

Both modern and vintage, Pucci can set you back a lot (while slightly sheer, shop the vintage Formfit Rogers line — it’s nightwear that you can wear as outerwear and is much less expensive).

… and I always enjoy getting my cost-per-wear down, so let’s explore how to style a Pucci print multiple ways.

1- Casual

Pucci playsuit showed with silver hoop earrings, a Balenciaga bag, and gladiator-ish sandals

… with Isabel Marant Nirvana earrings, S/S 02 Balenciaga Flat Brass Hobo, and K. Jacques Epicure sandals

What I love most about the print on this Pucci playsuit is that, because it has black in it, you can totally get away with wearing black with it during the day.

Since the Balenciaga Hobo is relatively quite understated, it keeps things super casual.

The gladiator-ish sandals tie the outfit while keeping it low-key.

… and a little pair of hoop earrings never hurt anyone!

2- Casual-ish

With a black straw hat, bracelets, a black Balenciaga City bag, and flip flops

… with an old straw fedora, S/S 04 Balenciaga Black City, Kate Moss x Zara bracelets, David Yurman ring, and flip flops from, like, Whole Foods

The addition of a hat, bracelets, and a ring makes it look like you put a lot of thought into your outfit.

… but a pair of flip flops brings it right back down to a hardly-trying feeling.

I don’t love wearing flip flops in a city, but in a quaint seaside spot? Yes, please.

The hat also protects you from the sun and adds an extra holiday flair.

3- Kind of Formal

… but still kind of casual.

Silver hoops, a blue Balenciaga First, bracelets, ring, and tweed blue ballet flats

… with Chanel tweed ballet flats, S/S 05 Balenciaga Sky Blue First, Kate Moss x Zara bracelets, Taylor Swift Red ring, and David Yurman hoops

In retrospect, maybe this looks the most dressy.

Probably because of how the shoes and bag match.

The blue accessories bring out the blues in the print (duh) and make it that much more summery.

Maybe all blue accessories are a little bit much, but if you can’t have fun being matchy-matchy in the summer, then when can you?

4- More Dressed Up

A gold necklace with a coral horn charm, basket bag with leather details, ballet flats, and gold bangles with a Pucci playsuit

Vintage earrings, Stephen Webster chain and Lizzie Fortunato charm, Saint Laurent basket bag, bracelets, and Repetto Cendrillon flats

Dinner at Senequier, right?

Not that I’ve ever been there, but just basing off the whole ~French~ feeling that the accessories add.

The basket bag is so French, then coupled with some vintage earrings, a stack of bracelets, and a necklace with a red accent… it’s a laid-back, but still put-together, French-feeling outfit.

5- A Little More Dressy

… because there’s a mid-heel and a patent handbag involved.

With silver hoops, a David Yurman Albion ring, black patent Chanel bag, and silver mary-jane shoes

David Yurman hoops and Albion ring, Chanel Patent Classic Handbag, and Chanel 19C Mary Janes

A patent leather bag always makes an outfit feel more night timey.

The extra jewelry (ok, just a ring) also adds more sparkle to your outfit.

Maybe you’ll dance on tables until 10:00am or maybe you’ll be back in bed by 10:00pm — the choice is yours when your dinner outfit is so comfortable, yet chic and simple.

You don’t need to drop a yachtload on a stay at Le Sirenuse this summer to encapsulate a vintage jet-set lifestyle.

All you need to do is slip on your old Pucci number and let it mentally whisk you away.

… at least that’s what I’m telling my non-Euro summer self!

For sizing, I usually take a vintage size 10+ and for modern Pucci, like this playsuit, an IT/EU 40-42 (the one shown is a 42).

Here are a few of my favourite Pucci finds…

1- C. late 60’s/early 70’s dress (vintage size 10), $295 USD (with OBO)

2- Vintage Pucci dress (vintage size 12), $268 USD

3- C. late 90’s/early 00’s skirt (size IT/EU 38), $368 USD

4- Occhi halterneck romper, $1,305 USD

5- C. late 60’s/early 70’s dress (vintage size 12), $500 USD (with OBO)
