So NOT a jewelry person, but… | Mateo jewelry review

My gold-plated hoops and vintage earrings might say otherwise, but…

I’m not a jewelry person.

Mateo Jewelry review

Sure, I’ll get a Tiffany bangle engraved for my mother as a Christmas gift or, along with my husband, surprise my sister with a Cartier Love bracelet after she officiated our wedding.

However, for me, personally?

Expensive jewelry is too stressful.

… like, I barely know how home insurance works — let alone jewelry insurance.

What I’m trying to say is that I don’t have a strong desire to amass loads of precious jewelry, but I do want fine jewelry to highlight my ~fine~ outfits.

Enter Mateo jewelry…

Mateo Choker SIZING

My Mateo Beaded Choker (in Malachite) has a length of 15” with a 2” extension.

With the extension you can change it so that it isn’t too much of a choker.

Mateo Earring SIZING

These Mateo One-Of-A-Kind 14kt Gold Baroque Pearl and Diamond earrings have a 30mm total length.

A WOW piece that stands out and up against all other baroque pearl earrings on the market.

With no two pearls alike, these raw pearl earrings add a WOW factor like none other.

IMPRESSIONS

The first Jamaican-born CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist, Matthew Harris (Mateo’s designer) has his dedication for highlighting people’s outfits with his creations on full display.

They’re the type of jewelry that you know you would have seen on a brilliant display at Barneys.

A gleaming case with these glittering earrings on a charcoal canvas pedestal…

The mannequins lining the Madison avenue windows in jewel-toned Marni frocks and Mateo necklaces draped around their necks…

At the end of the day, I’m still not totally the type of person who’d spend thousands of dollars on a single piece of jewelry.

But I am someone who’d spend a couple hundred dollars on a piece.

… especially if it’ll make my outfits shine a little brighter.

If that’s you too, then you can find Mateo’s jewelry at Matches Fashion, Mateo’s site, Net-A-Porter, Shopbop, and other retailers, from $160 USD.
